回顧2002 到 2006 共66,062 住院病人中出現顆粒球低下的個案並追蹤一年，在進一步排除其他惡性或是先天性疾病後，共有735個屬於後天性顆粒球低下症

結論:

後天性顆粒球低下症與年齡較小(小於一歲)、血小板增多及巨細胞病毒(CMV)感染有顯著相關。若年紀較小的後天性顆粒球低下症合併巨細胞病毒感染時應合併抗病毒藥物治療以縮短顆粒球低下的時期。
